What is seed cycling, and how can it help hormone balance
Hormone imbalances can create a whole heap of issues. An imbalance of the hormones estrogen and progesterone may cause estrogen dominance and low levels of progesterone. As many studies suggest, this can increase the risk of certain health conditions such as breast cancer, heart disease and thyroid problems. Seed Cycling is a safe and easy way to help the production, metabolism and regulation of hormones. But first lets have a look at the hormones in conversation.
Estrogen and Progesterone have their equal benefits in the body. Progesterone helps regulate the endometrium lining of the uterus, and prepares the body for pregnancy. Estrogen on the other hand, is not only the main female sex organ, but it also regulates cholesterol production in the liver, maintains body temperature, preserves bone strength and prevents bone loss (hence why women after the menopause are at higher risk of bone injuries and fractures due to the lack of estrogen).

What is Seed Cycling and how does it work?
Seeds are rich in essential fatty acids, zinc and selenium, which are needed for creating healthy hormones. Rotating seeds throughout a typical menstrual cycle may help balance out hormones.
Days 1 – 14
Assuming this is based on a 28 day cycle. Days 1-14 are in the Follicular Phase. This is when estrogen is high. During these days it is advised to take 1-2 tablespoons of Ground Flaxseeds and Pumpkins Seeds.
Flaxseeds are beneficial in preventing osteoporosis, heart disease and improve estrogen-progesterone ratios. Pumpkin seeds may help prevent breast cancer.
Days 15 – 28
Days 15-28 fall in the Luteal Phase (fertile phase). This is when progesterone goes up and peaks. During these days it is advised to take 1-2 tablespoons of Ground Sesame Seeds and Sunflower Seeds.
Sesame seeds are shown to be beneficial in lowering cholesterol, reducing blood pressure and balancing hormones. They are high in fiber which helps metabolise healthy estrogen. They also help reduce inflammation. Sunflower Seeds contain B-complex vitamins, necessary for a healthy nervous system. They are rich in protein and vitamin E, and can help lower cholesterol, blood sugars, blood pressure and support thyroid function.
