Fenugreek

Small Seed - Great Benefits

I had a sudden craving for Hulbah yesterday. Hulbah is a yemeni dish made from grounded fenugreek which is soaked for several hours. It is then drained, and whipped. We then add bisbas (green chutney). Hulbah is very much an acquired taste. You either love it or hate it!!

As I didn’t have any in the house, I decided to make my own from scratch, grinding fenugreek seeds and then soaking them. I can’t describe how satisfying this was with chicken. It certainly bought back memories of when me and my dad would devour this

Fenugreek has several health promoting benefits. It’s known to be great for controlling blood sugars and lipids, anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal & bacterial. It is also a galactogogue, meaning it boosts lactation for breastfeeding mothers. In some studies, fenugreek has also shown some significant improvements in obesity.
